What is microblading?Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that artistically enhances the appearance of your brows using a manual handheld tool to implant fine deposits of cosmetic pigment in the dermis layer of the skin. Unlike traditional tattooing, which uses a machine, each hair stroke is hand drawn by the artist to blend in with the client’s existing eyebrow hair. The results are a realistic, natural, fuller looking eyebrows. see About Microblading

What is the difference between microblading and ombré shading?Microblading (lasts between 6-18 months) uses a manual tool to create individual, natural-looking hair strokes throughout the eyebrows, whereas Ombré Shading (lasts 3-5 years) uses a digital handheld machine to create a soft shading affect. This method creates an ombré appearance starting darker at the tails of the brows and moving lighter into the center of the brows. Ombré Shading is great for all skin types and eyebrows as it heals and fades more naturally and evenly.
-
How long is the healing process?Microbladed eyebrows take 10 days to heal. During that time, we encourage you to let the scabs/flakes naturally exfoliate off. This means no picking and keeping them away from water, sweat, steam, etc. Once the scabbing phase passes, the brows will appear 30-50% lighter, and the true colour of pigment will not be visible till about 4 weeks later. A perfecting session will be scheduled for 6-10 weeks after the initial appointment. see Pre-care & After-care
-
How many treatments are needed? For microblading two treatments are needed (initial appointment + perfecting session). During your inital appointment, we will schedule your touch-up/perfecting session for 6-10 weeks later. The pigment will lighten 20-40% during the healing process and certain hair strokes may completely disappear and seem patchy. This is completely normal and the reason for the perfecting session. Skin cells also turn over more frequently on oilier skin types causing the colour to fade quicker than drier skin types. For oilier skin types more frequent touch ups may be required.

How do I achieve the best healed results?Strictly adhering to the Pre-care and After is crucial to achieve the best results.
-
How long do the results last? All eyebrows treatments offered are a form of permanent makeup, the results will fade over time – 18 months is typical for most clients. Traces of pigment can retain in the skin longer than 18 months. We recommend getting a color boost annually to keep them looking fresh. Pigment retention depends on skin type, age, aftercare, sun exposure, use of certain skin products, pigments used, immune system, medications and several other factors.

Is microblading safe?Yes! Microblading is a safe process as long as it is done by a properly trained and certified professional that follows the proper sanitation and sterilization procedures. To assure the client that proper sanitation methods are being used, we open a manufactured sealed and 100% disposable microblading tool at the beginning of the procedure. The used tool is disposed of in a sharps container once the treatment is completed. In addition, we sanitize all areas the client will come in contact with using a hospital grade disinfectant and apply barrier film to protect all surfaces from contamination during a procedure. By performing all treatments in this manner we feel that the health and safety of our clients' is being safeguarded to the highest degree. Following the appointment, it is the client's responsibility to strictly adhere to the post treatment instructions to promote proper healing and to prevent an infection. If proper sterilization and sanitary guidelines are being met, permanent cosmetics is completely safe!

What if the current eyebrow trends change or go out of style? As long as you aim for a natural classic shape, which can be determined by a combination of your personal preferences, the artist's suggestions, and our measument technique used to obtain the correct eyebrow proportions, you will not need to be concerned with the changing eyebrow trends! One year you can have your brows microbladed to look fuller and thicker, and two years later you can have them microbladed to look thinner and sleeker.

Is microblading painful? The pain level for microblading is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure your artist will apply a cocktail of topical anesthetics to numb the area which will be reapplied throughout the treatment. Everyone responds differently to the anesthetic and depending on the client, the feeling of the treatment has been described as "light nail scratches" to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine. Following the treatment, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients may take Tylenol if necessary but not aspirin or ibuprofen for at least 72 hours.

What do I need to know before my appointment? If you have an ideal shape and colour in mind, please bring a couple reference photos with you to your appointment. You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we may take into consideration the shape you feel most comfortable with. If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please refrain from doing so within a week of your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we can remove them. If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure. We require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen. DO NOT drink any alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior to your appointment. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure. It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from sunburn, it will take the pigment with it. see Pre-care & After-care.
